Tsunami Relief

Finally, the results are here.  On our D-day, February 12, 2005, we had to sell bake sale goodies and our lovely t-shirts.  I have to say, we did quite an exceptional job.  Our prestigious team of people sacrificed lots to be here, and our efforts were rewarded.

After the grueling 5-hour struggle of constant moving, running, carrying, the work is over.  Putting in sweat, blood and tears in to our work, we finally managed to bake about 150 bags of cookies and treats.  The anguish and pain has finally paid off, we did it.  (Ok not really, it was quite actually loads of fun on that Friday night, learning how to bake)   We had the pleasure of having the famous, world-renowned chef, Mrs. Lin.  She taught and coached us through a successful night of baking.  The Taiwanese Youth Society would also like to thank Ms. Gin Ru-Lee for letting us use her lovely kitchen.  We cannot thank her enough for letting us make a big mess in her kitchen.  The cookies we sold included Almond Flats, Coconut Balls, and Sugar Cookies.  The deal-of-a-lifetime include 6 cookies in a bag, sold for $2 a bag.

Our beautiful shirts, designed by Joanne Hung, and carried out by Shirley Fang, were a huge success!  These beautiful one-of-a-kind tees can still be bought for $5,a reduced price.  Even though these proceeds will not go to the tsunami relief, it will benefit our club, Taiwanese Youth Society.  Wearing these lovely shirts, you can flaunt and brag about how you helped thousands of children in need.  You can also say that you’ve supported our growing club!  We’ve sold nearly 200 shirts already, way to go guys!!

Now on to the statistics, the hardcore numbers that we’ve all been waiting for!  On February 12, the total sale amount was $2447.  What an achievement! Of course, we still have to pay off the costs of the shirts and supplies.  The expenses totaled up to be $1415.  Using super advance math, we can calculate the total net profit: $1032.  This included the monetary support from special warm-hearted adults, which included Mr. Chung-Kuang Lin ($170), Mrs. Kinglan Hung ($70), Mr. J.C. Kuo ($30), Mrs. Nancy Chieu ($100), and Mrs. Show-Yien Lin ($100).

Congratulations Everyone!
